What to expect when a Mauro Taping Plus installer is scheduled? An installer will arrive, analyze the studding, and joist systems by measuring spans, and flatness of surfaces. They will recommend (if applicable) wall and ceiling systems that will improve the finish once painted. This is a key stage, because the walls and ceilings cannot be fixed post paint. Flatness is a result of proper Carpentry & Framing.
Secondly, drywall board is installed on the ceilings, and bulk-heads. All screws are set before wall surfaces are started. Wall surfaces act as ceiling corner support much like a wood post supports a load bearing roof truss or joist. It is not absolutely necessary, but it does help with durability.
Any large gaps in Drywall installation are pre filled with 20-90 minute setting mud compound, and taped to cover gaps. All drywall will be secured around its perimeter so there are no screw heads popping or separating from the gypsum contact.
Taping of all drywall joints is essential, and must be done with Attention to Detail. All outside 90 degree angles must be installed with a corner bead and laser levelled so they are straight. All joints will be filled, and sanded three times to a professional finish before the priming and sealing begins.
The installer must be aware of any drywall corner movement, and profile must be noted for the plastering/taping stage so there is no movement in drywall board. It is recommended to install wood backing before gypsum board is installed wherever needed.
Furthermore, it is important to install a minimum of 5 screws per joist row, and 1 screw or nail every 10-12 inches on wall surfaces for a secure installation.
